Transform Your Trauma

This past week, I did a 3-day trauma intensive. The workshop titled “Healing Pathways” involves 3 days of transforming our trauma into a thing of beauty. Believe it or not there are many gifts in our trauma if we can separate our adult selves from the child that was hurt. We can transform those hurt child feelings into the joy, celebration and freedom of the “divine child” once we’re healed. We can develop a functional adult that can meet the needs of that child and never leave or abandon him or her.

Those of us who suffer from addictions be it chemical, alcohol, food, money, love addiction or sex addiction, have all had childhood trauma of one sort or another. (Childhood trauma = physical illness, depression or addictions = problems with being intimate)

A lot of healing happened this weekend and it was a beautiful thing to see. I am honored and blessed to be called to this work and see the dignity and strength of those who choose to heal.

Many thanks to Amy Fisher Hodges, RN, LCDC, who cofacilitated with me!  Amy
used to be the supervisor of the Survivors Program at the Meadows.  She truly was a joy to work with and I learned a lot from her….God is so good!

Trauma Transformation

This last weekend I did a four day intensive Trauma Transformation workshop!  Awesome.  My friend, Carol Colhoun, LCSW and I co-led a fabulous group in Austin.  It is truly amazing to see how much trauma can be resolved in a four-day period when one is immersed in it, gets enough support and really wants to move forward.

If you are interested in moving past the trauma that continues to keep you stuck in the past – this may be what you are looking for.  I plan to hold one at
least four times a year….

More information will be posted on my website soon, so stay tuned..

The Promise of Trust

Recently one of the revered women at church challenged us to do a Bible
word study on trust…I did it and it proved to be very, very valuable.

If you look up what trust brings, you’ll find a treasure trove…Trust does indeed bring deliverance, protection, grace, healing, mercy and love.

Easier said than done, I know…but it does many times boil down to a decision.  I may not feel safe or trusting, but I can know I am safe and choose to trust.  I can make a decision to turn my will and my current and future life over to God and let go…I can trust in His loving arms.

Sometimes for those of us recovering from addiction or trauma learning to trust is our biggest hurdle.  The woman at church said something important, “God is getting us to the point where we can trust what we don’t yet see.”  I like this idea….I can choose to trust and see what happens.  Why don’t you join me?  Just for today, let’s make a decision to trust in a God who loves us and wants
far more for us than we could ever dream or imagine….(Is. 42:16)
